Public Safety Reports: Jan. 14-18

Medical Assist - Jan. 14, 11:45 a.m.

Campion SFD Public Safety and SFD responded to a student experiencing severe back pain. The student was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Safety Assist - Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m.

Public Safety recovered needles near the student residence at 1217 E. Barclay Ct. Public Safety appropriately secured the items in a medical waste container.

Motor Vehicle Accident - Jan. 14, 7:10 p.m.

Public Safety investigated a minor non-injury motor vehicle accident on the Murphy garage access roadway. A parked, and occupied, university vehicle was struck by a private vehicle backing up. Information was exchanged and no visible damage was sustained to either vehicle.

Trespass - Jan. 15, 3:30 a.m.

Public Safety and police contacted two non-affiliate males sleeping in the shrubbery on the northeast corner of Hunthausen. The males were both cooperative and positively identified. The males were trespass warned from university property and escorted off campus.

Alcohol - Jan. 16, 12:30 a.m.

Public Safety and Housing and Residence Life responded to a noise complaint involving alcohol at the Logan Court Townhomes. Public Safety identified all the occupants. The incident was forwarded to conduct.

Alcohol - Jan. 16, 1:15 a.m.

Public Safety contacted two males with open containers of alcohol entering a residence facility. Both students were of age and cooperative. Public Safety explained policy of consuming open containers of alcohol on campus grounds. The students poured out the alcohol and cleared.

Safety Assist - Jan. 16, 2:50 a.m.

Public Safety observed several highly intoxicated individuals walking near the interim library. Public Safety identified the individuals as students who advised they were returning to campus from a party. DPS escorted the students back to campus residence.

Trespass - Jan. 16, 4:00 a.m.

Public Safety and police contacted a non-affiliate male inside the construction area of the Lemieux Library. The male was trespass warned from campus property with Public Safety and police.

Trespass - Jan. 16, 8:40 p.m.

Public Safety and police contacted a non-affiliate male sleeping on the central stairwell of the Pigott building. The male was trespass warned from university property and escorted off campus.

Suspicious Person - Jan. 16, 9:20 p.m.

A desk assistant reported witnessing a non-affiliate male attempt to enter the front door of Xavier. DPS responded and completed an area search. DPS observed a male fitting the witness description east bound on E. Madison from 11th Avenue.

Alcohol - Jan. 17, 12:30 a.m.

Public Safety contacted three intoxicated males in the lobby of Campion. The males were cooperative and provided identification, which confirmed they were all under legal drinking age. Public Safety notified Housing and requested the students return to their rooms for the night, which all complied in doing so.

Narcotics - Jan. 17, 1:40 a.m.

Public Safety and Housing responded to a noise complaint in Campion. The occupants were intoxicated and found to have alcohol and narcotics. Forwarded to conduct.

Narcotics - Jan. 17, 2:40 a.m.

Public Safety and Housing responded to a burning smell consistent with marijuana. Public Safety identified the source of the smell and contacted a resident room. The occupants were identified as students and admitted to smoking marijuana. Referred to conduct.

Medical Assist - Jan. 17, 3:45 a.m.

Campus Area DPS located an intoxicated resident student who needed Public Safety assistance. Public Safety found the student had sustained a scrape to his knee. Public Safety cleaned the abrasion and provided the student with an icepack, where he was escorted home.

Safety Assist - Jan. 17, 3:50 a.m.

Public Safety found an emotionally upset young female wandering in the rain with clothing soaking wet. The female was intoxicated and identified herself as a sister of an SU student. The female stated she had been at a party with her sister but could not locate the house. Public Safety contacted Housing who offered to help locate the sister. Public Safety left the female in the care of Housing to respond to another incident in progress.

Malicious Mischief - Jan. 17, 2:15 a.m.

Public Safety discovered a cement trash can that had been knocked over near the Murphy Village Apartments. Public Safety was able to return the trash can to its appropriate location and did not observe any permanent damage.

Malicious Mischief - Jan. 17, 4:00 p.m.

Public Safety observed several incidents of graffiti both in spray paint and permanent markers across several areas of campus. Photographs were taken and deficiencies submitted to Facilities to initiate removal.

Alleged Conduct Violation - Jan. 17, 9:30 p.m.

Public Safety contacted several students who had exited a room where a possible alcohol violation occurred. The students were cooperative and stated that they did not reside in the room of concern. Public Safety later discovered the two students contacted were indeed residents of the room in question.

Medical Assist - Jan. 17, 9:40 p.m.

Public Safety received a report from a student requesting a non-emergent medical transport to a local hospital for severe pain in lower back and legs. Public Safety provided a vehicle escort to a local hospital and advised Housing of the student's status.

Auto Prowl - Jan. 18, 5:10 a.m.
