As a student of Seattle University, I am certain that I speak for many if not most of its affiliates when I say that this list is not representative of our feelings. It is an opinion article written by people/a person who isn't comfortable enough to post it along with his/her/their name(s). What most of us don't understand is how someone believes that this is the most appropriate time to attempt a jab at Marquette. This list was truly in poor taste. The timing was terrible. The sentiments non-representative. We are Seattle University, allies for the same cause with Marquette.

The actions of Marquette upper administration are reprehensible. And will, no doubt, in the future be great fodder for satire and humor as you have noted in your Top 10 List. But in your humor, there is a bit of a sense of "we are better then them"-- not only meaning Marquette, but Seattle- the city and Washington - the state. Clearly your humor pokes fun at the "provincial nature" of Wisconsin and Milwaukee. As a Wisconsinite from Milwaukee, I, too indulge in it. However, I do quickly point out that we aren't as provincial as people seem to think. Just want to let your readers know that Wisconsin was the FIRST state to enact an anti-gay discrimination law in 1982. And Milwaukee has deep roots and a long history of having had Socialist mayors who were progressive in the 20th century. And as you guys guzzle down your college beer, chances are it was brewed in Milwaukee! Just some food for thought..........

It may be a joke, but it was in very poor taste and we at Marquette are pretty vulnerable right now, so excuse our exposed nerves.

Our administration has embarrassed us on the national stage, so forgive us if we're not partial to further jabs at our reputation.

For those Marquette folks getting all upset about this, it may be important to note... The Ten is a tonque-in-cheek humorous list published by Spectator editors each week. In other words, take it easy and have a sense of humor: THIS IS A JOKE.

I'll have a small helping of the organic pretentious crap, please.
Oh, nevermind, found it.

This is very disappointing. Many of us in the Marquette community have felt a real sense of solidarity with SU in expressing our anger and frustration over this egregious act. The input from SU has been eloquent and dignified, and very welcomed. It will be alot more helpful if we can keep it that way.

I can think of at least 20 reasons I would never step foot on SU's campus, let alone attend or work there. Care to hear them? We are Marquette.
