About The Spectator
The Spectator has been the official student newspaper of Seattle University since 1933.
The Spectator is published in print on a weekly basis except for the first week of the quarter, examination periods and during holidays, for a total of 27 issues for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The best way to reach anyone on staff is through e-mail.
Mission statement
The Spectator strives to present the news, events and topics of interest that affect the Seattle University community in an unbiased and professional manner—at the same time serving as the developmental ground for the writers, photographers, designers and editors it employs.
How to get a paper
One copy weekly of The Spectator is available to all students, faculty and administrators. Additional copies may be purchased from The Spectator offices at the cost of $1 per issue.
At this time, The Spectator doesn't offer a print subscription service. The current print edition is available for download on the front page of this site. Readers may also subscribe to our e-mail editions.
The Spectator can be found in stands on campus in the following buildings: Student Center, Student Center Pavilion, Bellarmine Hall, Lemieux Library, Connolly Center, Sullivan Hall, University Services, Alumni and Admissions, Pigott, Hunthausen Hall, Xavier Hall, Lynn, Fine Arts, Administration, Garand, Casey, Engineering, Bannan, Loyola Hall, Campion Hall, Murphy Apartments and Chardin Hall.
Editorial independence
The Spectator is funded in part by Seattle University but pays for most of its operations through advertising. The Spectator maintains editorial independence.
Content is created and edited by students without prior review by sources or university officials.
Opinions in The Spectator are those of the authors and not Seattle University. When an opinion piece is unsigned, it is a staff editorial and is the opinion of members of the editorial board, not necessarily of Seattle University or all Spectator employees.
